Lakeland STAR School/Academy is a charter school located in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Lakeland STAR is a public charter school engaging all diverse learners in personalized assets-based education. Our model is rooted in the best principles, practices, and educational philosophy in serving students who are on the autism spectrum, and offers this learning opportunity to all students in the public school system.

At Lakeland STAR, we offer:

A sensory-friendly environment to make learning easier for students by reducing distractions and sensory challenges.
Personalized attention that focuses on each student's strengths, talents, and interests.
A flexible, transition-focused curriculum that is tailored to each student’s individual needs.
A team of skilled and caring teachers who are dedicated to providing the best educational experience for every student.
Therapies like speech, language, and occupational therapy that are woven into the student’s day, in addition to special therapy sessions.
Innovative teaching methods to keep students engaged and support their learning.
Alternative therapies, like equine therapy, to help students grow in new ways.
Technology that supports personalized learning and helps students take charge of their own educational journey.
A welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates each student’s unique qualities.

Our goal is for students to thrive not only in school but also in the community. We aim to help students graduate with the skills they need to succeed in life, whether that means moving on to college, getting a job, living independently, or forming meaningful relationships.
