Leslie Thompson

Special Education Teacher

Hello! My name is Leslie Thompson.  I received my degree in Elementary Education from St Norbert College in 2004.  After staying home and raising my children, I decided to go back and add special education to my degree from the University of Viterbo. My love of special education became apparent when I returned to the classroom. I have been with Lakeland Star from the beginning, and have enjoyed the opportunities we continue to provide for our students.   Currently, I teach our 11th and 12th grade students.  We work on social communications, real world math skills, and transitioning into the work and adult world with as many tools as possible to become successful and independent.

What I love most is spending time with my husband and three boys.  We enjoy skiing in the winter and boating on the lake in the summer.

Why Lakeland STAR?

I chose Lakeland STAR because I love the quaint atmosphere and feeling of community within the school.  The uniqueness of our students keeps me on my toes and excited to see what each day has in store! I love the collaboration we have among staff, and the way we come together to meet each of our students needs.
